Moira Shire Council is a Local Government Area in the Northern Victoria Region of Victoria, Australia. Located in the north-east part of the state, it covers an area of 4,045 square kilometres (1,562 sq mi). As at August 2021 the population was 30,522. [1] It includes the towns of Cobram, Nathalia, Numurkah, Tungamah and Yarrawonga.

The Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre is a large building featuring displays on the history and the environment of the nearby Barmah Forest and Barmah National Park. The centre opened in 2011 with funding from the Victorian government and the Moira Shire Council. [ 8 ]

The area is home to mainly irrigated dairy farms. At the 2016 census, Waaia and the surrounding area had a population of 390 up from 376 in 2011. [2]
