Ayr Academy (Scottish Gaelic: Acadamaidh Inbhir Àir) is an 11–18 non-denominational secondary school situated within the Craigie Estate area at University Avenue in Ayr, South Ayrshire. It is the sixth largest secondary school in South Ayrshire, with a pupil roll of 607 in 2023–2024. [ 2 ]
Halliday worked as the Art Master at Prestwick High School for several years and also taught at Ayr Academy. In 1941 he was appointed principal of the art department at the High School of Dundee, a post he retained until he retired in 1965. [1] During World War Two, Halliday painted ship building and naval camouflage operations on the Clyde. [3]

John Strawhorn (May 1922 – 7 August 1997) was a Scottish educator and historian. He was a teacher in Girvan, Newmilns, Kilmarnock, Cumnock and Ayr, and retired in 1982 as Assistant Rector at Ayr Academy.
Caw was born in Ayr, the son of James Caw, a draper, and his wife Eliza Murray Greenfield. After study at Ayr Academy, he became an apprentice engineer at the West of Scotland Technical College in Ayr. He then worked from 1887 as an engineering draughtsman, initially in Glasgow.

Crawfurd was born in Ayr, and was left an orphan at the age of eight. After some school education he went, aged 12, to London to learn the trade of baker with his sister's husband. After eight years' he returned to Ayr, and at age 22 attended writing classes of Ayr academy for three months.
