Dripping Springs Independent School District is a public school district based in the northwest portion of Hays County, [1] Texas, United States, serving approximately 8,000 students. In addition to Dripping Springs , the district serves Driftwood and the village of Bear Creek and rural areas in northwestern Hays County .
The Dripping Springs Tiger Band is a consistent UIL finalist and frequently competes in the Bands of America circuit. The Tiger band was the UIL conference AAAA state champion in 2009 and the 2011 state silver medalists. In 2015, the Tiger band returned to compete in state finals, earning sixth in UIL conference AAAAA.
LTHS and LTISD were both established in 1981 after splitting from the Dripping Springs Independent School District. [3] The current high school was built in 1988. [ citation needed ] Because of major growth in the Austin Metropolitan Area , the high school has undergone several expansion projects.

Lake Travis ISD covers approximately 118 square miles (310 km 2). Its boundaries are the Travis/Hays county line on the south, the shores of Lake Travis to the north, the Pedernales River to the west, and Lake Austin and Barton Creek to the east. Incorporated communities in the district include Bee Cave, Briarcliff, Lakeway, and The Hills.
