The Blue Line is a rapid transit line in the Greater Boston metropolitan area, one of four rapid transit lines operated by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). It runs from Bowdoin station in downtown Boston under Boston Harbor to East Boston and Revere on the inner North Shore, where it terminates at Wonderland .
The Blue Line and Red Line are currently the only two MBTA subway rail lines without a direct connection; passengers must either ride one stop on the Green (or Orange) lines to transfer, or walk 0.5 miles (0.80 km) on Cambridge Street between Bowdoin and Charles/MGH.
The Blue Line has two side platforms under State Street and the Old State House. The Blue line platforms are on the same level as the southbound Orange Line platform; the Blue Line tracks pass over the northbound Orange Line platform. In the station, a track map lined with light bulbs shows the position of the trains on the Blue Line between Bowdoin and Orient Heights. It was one of the last stations to be converted to 6-car train service as part of the MBTA's Blue Line Renovation Project. Maverick is a terminal for MBTA bus routes 114, 116, 120, and 121.
The Dallas Streetcar is a 2.45-mile (3.94 km) modern streetcar connecting downtown Dallas to Methodist Dallas Medical Center and Bishop Arts District in northern Oak Cliff. The line connects to DART's Red Line and Blue Line at EBJ Union Station. The line is owned by the city of Dallas and operated by DART under a joint funding agreement. [17]
The MBTA transit network includes the MBTA subway with three metro lines (the Blue, Orange, and Red lines), two light rail lines (the Green and Mattapan lines), and a five-line bus rapid transit system (the Silver Line); MBTA bus local and express service; the twelve-line MBTA Commuter Rail system, and several ferry routes.

The MBTA is in the process of replacing its entire fleet of Red Line and Orange Line cars, which are over 40 years old, as of 2024. [14] The Blue Line cars were replaced in 2008. The Green Line has a variety of vehicles, some dating back to 1986, with the latest batch delivered in 2019.
