"Summer Rain" is about lifelong love during "the summer of love" of 1967. It was released in the late fall, as a reminiscence of the previous summer. The song references Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the Beatles album which was released during May of that year.

"Summer Rain" was recorded by Australian dance act Slinkee Minx in 2004 for their first album, Electric Dreams (2007). It was the first song released from the album, and was released in Australia on August 9, 2004, as a CD single .
In 2016 and 2017, Slinkee Minx released a number of remix packages including "Lift Me Up remixes" and the EP "Summer Rain (17 Remixes)", which reached #25 on the Australian iTunes Dance Album Charts in July 2017. "Summer Rain" was also featured on the compilation CD "Music Wars – 40 Years of Central Station Records".
The CD release of this album was one of the first commercial CD+G format discs. Alphaville released three singles from the album, "Romeos", "Summer Rain" and "Mysteries of Love", the first of which charted internationally. A remastered and re-released version of the album, on both CD and vinyl, was released on 7 May 2021. [1]
