The most commonly encountered chamber inserts are ones designed to convert .30-06 Springfield to the shorter 7.62×51mm NATO. Since the chamber insert remains in the chamber, this type of conversion will function in semi-automatic firearms , and is commonly used in military surplus arms such as the M1 Garand , allowing the use of often less ...
In 1953, large batches of .30-06 ammunition were manufactured under unique arsenal headstamps. [4] The case had red lacquer sealant around the primer annulus. [ 4 ] The headstamp has a two-letter manufacturer code (10- and 2-o'clock) and the lot code (rather than the year) is the number 40 (at 4 o'clock) followed by a third numeral (at 8 o ...

The Ares Defense Shrike 5.56 is an air-cooled, dual-feed light machine gun/rifle for semi or full-auto configurations that fires the 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge. The Shrike 5.56 is sold as either as a complete weapon, or as an upper receiver "performance upgrade kit" to existing AR-15 and M16-type service rifles and carbines.
It appears that this round can drastically improve the performance of any AR-15 weapon chambered to .223/5.56 mm. Superior accuracy, wounding capacity, stopping power and range have made this the preferred round of many special forces operators, and highly desirable as a replacement for the older, Belgian-designed 5.56×45mm SS109/M855 NATO round.
The charging handle is non-ambidextrous, as is the fire mode selector and safety switch, which is positioned on the left side of the trigger assembly. All this makes it difficult for left-handed shooters to operate. The fire selector switch is the same as the MD97, and adopts a 180º angle when switching between firing modes. [6]
