Bluebird Gap Farm is a public city park and petting zoo located in Hampton, Virginia, at 60 Pine Chapel Road. It is designed to resemble a working farm, and features farm animals and fowl of all types, and wild animals native to Virginia. It is also home to the city's volunteer master gardeners' demonstration garden. [3]
The Meadow Event Park (also called "The Meadow") is an event center in Doswell, Virginia. Previously called the Meadow Stables, the park hosts the annual State Fair of Virginia. On March 14, 2013, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation bought the State Fair of Virginia and the Meadow Event Park from Universal Fairs LLC of Cordova, Tennessee. [1]
In 1874, on the site of the current park was a health spa, Sulphur Springs Ranch. Race horse breeder John Marchbanks (also written as Marchbank) bought the property in 1921 and named it Heather Farm after his favorite horse, King Heather. According to city directories, Frank Darling, a member of his father's oyster firm, president of the streetcar company, vice-president of the Hampton Bank, trustee of the Hampton Institute, founder of the Hampton Fire Department and Dixie Hospital, was the first resident in the area, building his house at 4403 Victoria Boulevard around 1895.

Named for Byrd's daughter, Evelyn, this site has been home to the Ruffin family since 1847. The 2,500 acre (10 km 2) farm is still family owned and operated. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house, lush grounds and gardens are open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
