Ashland is a city in and the county seat of Ashland County, Ohio, United States, [6] about 66 miles (106 km) southwest of Cleveland and 82 miles (132 km) northeast of Columbus. The population was 19,225 at the 2020 census. It is the center of the Ashland Micropolitan statistical area, which includes all of Ashland County.

Upon the formation of Ashland County in 1846, Milton Township was again divided, four columns of sections on the east being included in Ashland County, the other two columns remaining in Richland. The last division reduced the township to its present dimensions—four by six miles. It is one of five Milton Townships statewide. [6]

Sullivan Township was organized in 1819 as part of Medina County, and then became part of Lorain County in December 1822. [4] It was added to Ashland County when it was formed on February 24, 1846 from portions of Huron, Lorain, Richland, and Wayne counties.
