Joseph Khalil Aoun (/ aʊ n /; Arabic: جوزاف خليل عون; [a] born 10 January 1964) is a Lebanese politician and army general who has served as the 14th president of Lebanon since 9 January 2025. [1] [2] He served as the commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, and is the fifth commander appointed president. [3]
In 1986, Aoun became sub-director, then director of chemistry, pharmacy, and fertilizers at the Ministry of Industry, before becoming CEO of the Saidal Group from 1995 to 2008. He was also a lecturer at the National Institute of Light Industries in Boumerdès from 1984 to 1986.

He is a telecom engineer and holder of an MBA and a MSc in Finance, and a nephew of Lebanese President Michel Aoun. He has been part of the FPM since its creation. [4]
