Echogenicity (sometimes as echogenecity) or echogeneity is the ability to bounce an echo, e.g. return the signal in medical ultrasound examinations. In other words, echogenicity is higher when the surface bouncing the sound echo reflects increased sound waves.
Breast ultrasound is also used to perform fine-needle aspiration biopsy and ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration of breast abscesses. [8] Women may prefer breast ultrasound over mammography because it is a painless procedure and does not involve the discomfort of breast compression present in mammograms.
A suspicious area on mammography or ultrasound. [9] This may include: Microcalcifications on MRI. [10] BI-RADS score of 4 or 5 on mammography, ultrasound, or MRI. [11] A suspicious hard palpable lump [9] Skin changes like crusting, scaling, or dimpling of the breast, which may signal an underlying breast cancer [9] Abnormal nipple discharge [7] [9]
A breast cyst is a cyst, a fluid-filled sac, within the breast. One breast can have one or more cysts. They are often described as round or oval lumps with distinct edges. In texture, a breast cyst usually feels like a soft grape or a water-filled balloon, but sometimes a breast cyst feels fir
The 2D examination reveals a solid, hypoechoic nodule in IVth liver segment, without encapsulation. CFM shows a central vessel with ramifications to the periphery. The underlying liver is cirrhotic. Although tubular carcinoma has been considered a special-type tumor, [a] recent trend has been to classify it as a low-grade, invasive NOS carcinoma because there is a continuous spectrum from pure tubular carcinomas to mixed NOS [b] carcinomas with tubular features, depending on the percentage of the lesion that displays tubular features.
Acorn cyst sign is a radiologic sign indicating the presence of a benign uncomplicated cyst in ultrasound examinations of the breast. [1] It consists of a deep anechoic fluid portion resembling an acorn, and a superficial echogenic layer resembling an acorn cap. This sign is helpful for radiologists to differentiate a benign uncomplicated cyst ...
Despite their propensity to grow rapidly and deform the overlying breast tissue, approximately 20% of phyllodes tumors can present as a nonpalpable mass on screening mammography. [12] Other imaging tools used to assess the size and spread of a phyllodes tumor include ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). [ 11 ]
