Denarau Island (Fijian pronunciation: [ⁿdenarau̯]) is a small private resort development on the western side of Viti Levu in the Republic of Fiji. The 2.55 km 2 resort is reached via a short causeway over a creek and is located 5 km north west of the town Nadi and 10 km west of Nadi International Airport .
As tourism took off in the 1960s, the resorts under construction in the nearby Mamanuca Islands and Denarau Island cemented Nadi as the centre of Fiji's tourism industry. Nadi is the operational base for Fiji Airways, which services six airports throughout the southwest Pacific, and many more on the Pacific Rim.
Pacific Island Air employs over 50 staff encompassing management, administration, engineering, flight crew, reservations, check-in and baggage handling.
