Westley Watende Omari Moore (born October 15, 1978) is an American politician, businessman, author, and veteran, serving as the 63rd governor of Maryland since 2023.. Moore was born in Maryland and raised primarily in New York.
As governor, Moore is a member of the Maryland Board of Public Works—a constitutionally appointed body that oversees many aspects of the state's finances—along with the comptroller and the state treasurer. During his first board meeting in January 2023, Moore said the state would work to include more diverse businesses in state contracts.
In late 2008, the Moores moved from Riverside to Guilford, where they lived until Wes Moore's election as governor in 2022.
