The Crunch Bird (El pájaro crujiente) is an animated short by Joe Petrovich, Len Maxwell, and Ted Petok. [1] It won the 1971 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. [2] [3] Joe Petrovich animated the cartoon. Len Maxwell provided the voices for the husband, wife, and pet shop owner. It was followed by the sequel Crunch Bird II in 1975. [4]

The animated series began to be produced in October 2010, by Mixer Productions in partnership with Globo. The model sheet of the characters was created by designer Bruno Okada, [3] [4] that was chosen after a competition sponsored by Globo. The animation is directed by Humberto Avelar.
