He was the Warden of Wadham College, Oxford from 5 May 1777 until 1783. The warden was the term used by Wadham for the head of the college. [3] He gained an ecclesiastical preferment as rector of Monks Risborough in 1783. [4] He started his appointment at Monks Risborough on 9 July 1783 on his father's (Joseph Gerard) cession. [2]

John Griffiths, the son of a clergyman and schoolteacher also called John Griffiths, was born on 27 July 1806 in Rochester, Kent.He was educated at the King's School, Rochester (his father's school) and at Winchester College, before joining the University of Oxford as a scholar of Wadham College in 1824.
Peter Basil Carter (10 April 1921 – 16 September 2004) was a Fellow and Tutor in Law at Wadham College, Oxford. Carter was educated at Loughborough Grammar School and Oriel College, Oxford where he obtained a double first. He joined the British Army in 1941, and was awarded Croix de Guerre with silver star by France for actions in Normandy.
