The Boyd Companies – Founded in 1956, Boyd Companies is made up of Boyd Bros. Transportation, WTI Transport, Mid Seven Transportation and Boyd Logistics. [41] Boyd Bros. Transportation - Founded in 1956, Boyd Bros. Transportation specializes in high volume, time-sensitive flatbed services throughout the eastern two-thirds of the United States.
Southeastern Freight expanded into the Texas market by expanding in Tyler in 2005. [8] Eight years later Southeastern Freight further expanded in Texas with a Houston facility on February 21, 2013 and a Lubbock facility on May 11, 2015. [9] [10] International operations were expanded in October 2008 by offering four shipping options to Mexico. [11]
Continued and consistent growth led to the expansion of the company's headquarters in 1993. The 300-acre site is home to the company's administrative offices, maintenance facilities, wash bay, and local driver services. Equipment upgrades grew as rapidly as office locations. The first 48-foot trailer was purchased in 1986.
The company was founded as Livingston Merchant's Co-op in 1958 and incorporated as Averitt Express in 1969. [2] [3] Averitt is owned by Gary Sasser, who purchased the company from its original owner, Thurman Averitt, in October 1971 at the age of 20. At the time of Sasser's purchase, Averitt operated 3 trucks and 5 trailers.
Covenant began operations on January 2, 1986, [2] by founders David and Jacqueline Parker, with 25 trucks and 50 trailers. The company now jointly operates over 3,000 trucks and 7,000 trailers with sister companies Southern Refrigerated Transport, Inc. (Texarkana, Arkansas), Star Transportation Inc. (La Vergne, Tennessee) and Landair Transportation, Inc. (Greeneville, Tennessee).
