Bryce Canyon City, sometimes shown as Bryce on maps, [4] is a town in Garfield County, Utah, United States, adjacent to Bryce Canyon National Park.The town, formerly known as Ruby's Inn, was officially incorporated on July 23, 2007, under a short-lived state law.
The park is located in southwestern Utah about 50 miles (80 km) northeast of and 1,000 feet (300 m) higher than Zion National Park. [6] [7]Bryce Canyon National Park lies within the Colorado Plateau geographic province of North America and straddles the southeastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau west of Paunsaugunt Faults (Paunsaugunt is Paiute for "home of the beaver"). A National Park Service-operated campground was established nearby, with rustic bathhouses and an amphitheater. [2] Located about 1 mile (1.6 km) back from Bright Angel Point, the Inn's accommodations were less desirable than the Lodge's, which were almost on the edge of the precipice.
