Here is the list i have come up with so far of unsafe sites for downloading mods: minecraftdl, 9minecraft, 8minecraft, 6minecraft, 5minecraft, 4minecraft, 3minecraft, and 2minecraft. Basically any site that uses a number before minecraft is unsafe, and only use the minecraft forums, planet minecraft, curseforge, or curse.com for download links.
Cant guarantee that 9minecraft is safe. Anyway I just use that site as catalogue, something like whats new. If I found the mod i need, I look for it in minecraftforum, because forums provide latest versions and directly from their developers. If you need a mod, texturepack or map, try first checking the forums or planetminecraft as mentioned above.

Even more obvious is the case for Chromaticraft (original and stolen): Here basically the whole page is taken away and reused - more blatantly ripping off than 9gag. Conclusion: There is hard evidence that atleast 9minecraft is blantantly ripping off websites and completing ignoring the licensing of the mods.
Can someone confirm that 9Minecraft is a safe place to install mods? I wanna install the Herobrine reborns mod but this site does not look very trustworthy, can someone confirm for me if this site is safe? It's a scam site that hosts lots of fake mods and what not. It is not safe and you should not download from there.
Unfortunately this is not fully true. 9Minecraft, and many other mod repost sites are owned and operated by the same group of people. Over the last few months they have been redirecting people to their mc-mod (dot) net, which is still online. Reply reply. THEGamingninja12.
