In the year 2121, Earth faces a dire threat from black holes.A team of astronauts are sent on a mission to neutralize them. Their effort is successful until their spaceship, the Endera, is sucked into one of the black holes in the Lyra Constellation, crash-landing on an Entity: a mysterious object resembling a planet.
The team picked a sci-fi setting, allowing them to add creative and unrealistic things into the game. The team also took the concept of boss battles, and expanded upon it by using the concept as a key idea when developing Evolve. The team envisioned Evolve as a video game version of Predator. [29]
Beyond the Black Hole is stereoscopic 3-D arcade game which comes with 3-D glasses. The player is able to use the keyboard, a joystick, or a mouse to move around in space. [2] The game is playable without the glasses, as the game uses motion, not color, to generate the 3-D effect. [3]
The game consists of 40 levels across 4 themed black holes or worlds. There are 4 different worlds, mechanical, fire, ice, and beast. The player may choose one of three possible spaceships which can be upgraded in between each level. The game contains 3 difficulty levels and features time and score leaderboards for each of them.
