North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) and Dakota College at Bottineau joined the conference in football only beginning with the 2014 season. In 2017, the MCAC partnered with USA High School Clay Target League to form the first two-year college varsity Clay target league.

The 1962 Minnesota–Duluth Bulldogs football team represented the University of Minnesota Duluth of Duluth, Minnesota. In their fifth year under head coach Jim Malosky , the Bulldogs compiled a 6–2–1 record (5–1–1 against MIAC opponents), finished in second place in the MIAC, and outscored opponents by a total of 151 to 52.
The team represented Saint John's University as a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) during the 1963 NAIA football season.In their 11th season under head coach John Gagliardi, the Johnnies compiled a 10–0 record (7–0 against conference opponents), won the MIAC championship, and outscored opponents by a total of 335 to 72.
