Wizards of the Coast would later apologize for setting wrong expectations for the set as well as the strange scheduling after receiving negative feedback about the set. [11] Masters 25 (A25) was released on March 16, 2018. It was themed as a celebration of 25 years of the history of Magic, with cards from every printed set. [11]
The starter game came with two decks, two playmats, a step-by-step play guide, and a simplified version of the Magic: The Gathering rule-book. The starter-game contained eight cards which weren't available in the boosters. Starter had a short print run, and has become very difficult to find. It was replaced with Starter 2000 less than a year later.

[11] [29] The three ways that cards join the historic format are: appearing in a standard-legal set, appearing in supplemental sets released on Arena (such as the non-standard set Jumpstart), [30] or added via 15-20 card sets called Historic Anthologies. [27] [31] Like other constructed formats, Historic maintains its own banned list.
Christopher Rush illustrated the card's art. [1] Black Lotus was printed for the earliest core sets of Magic: The Gathering, the Limited Edition Alpha and Beta sets, and the Unlimited set, which were all released in 1993. [2] [3] The Alpha and Beta editions had black borders, and the Unlimited edition had white borders.
