Julie Anne Etchingham (born 21 August 1969) [1] [2] is an English journalist who works as a television newsreader with ITV News. A graduate of Newnham College, Cambridge , Etchingham joined the BBC as a trainee after completing her studies, and went on to present the children's news programme Newsround in 1994.
Newsround moved out of studio HQ5 for undisclosed reasons on 17 December 2023. [4] All production from HQ5 had ceased by 22 December, and the studio had been emptied by 25 January. [5] [6] [7] Newsround is currently sharing space with a temporary set in the CBeebies studio until a permanent one is constructed in the future. [8]

In October 2009, it was announced that Etchingham would present the relaunched programme from early 2010 – with the show airing once a week on Thursdays at 7:30pm, or later in some regions. [ 7 ] Julie presented the programme for the final time on 3 February 2022, announcing that she would now be reporting for the show.

The Late News was initially presented by News at Ten newscasters Mark Austin and Julie Etchingham. However after two months, The Late News was realigned with ITV News branding and presented by one newscaster, although continued to be introduced by continuity announcers and billed in television listings as The Late News until its demise.
When the bulletin was axed in 1999 in order for primetime entertainment programming to air uninterrupted, there was a public outcry. ITV reluctantly brought the programme back – under the name ITV News at Ten – in 2001, airing it at 10pm for a minimum of three nights per week, but eventually replaced it with the ITV News at 10.30 in 2004.
