Ikot Ekpene, also known as The Raffia City, is a historic town in the south-southern state [2] of Akwa Ibom, Nigeria. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] It is the political and cultural capital of the Annang ethnic group in Nigeria (Nair, 1972).

Aba is made up of many villages such as Aba-Ukwu, Eziukwu-Aba, Obuda-Aba, Umuokpoji-Aba and other villages that have been merged for administrative convenience. It lies along the west bank of the Aba River and is at the intersection of roads leading to Port Harcourt, Owerri, Umuahia, Ikot Ekpene, and Ikot-Abasi. [1]
It is bounded at the North, by Ini Local Government Area, South by Abak and Uyo Local Government Areas, East by Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area and West by Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and Obot Akara Local Government Areas. It was created as a local government in september 1996. It has a landmass of 407.16 square kilometres (157.21 sq mi).

Essien Udim is one of the Annang speaking Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State, [2] Nigeria. [3]It was created out of the former Ikot Ekpene division and included the following clans in Annang land: Afaha Clan, Adiasim Clan, Odoro Ikot Clan, Ekpeyong Atai Clan, Ikpe Annang Clan, Okon Clan, Ukana Clan, Ukana East Clan.
