The first Independent suspension on a Jeep was an Italian design used on Kaiser Built Jeep trucks in the early sixties. Being 4wd independent it was complex and easily damaged, and difficult to adjust and repair. It was dropped after two years or so. I just purchased a 2003 Jeep Liberty the Freedom Edition. I love it.
