The former Temple Beth Israel building is located south of downtown Hartford in the Sheldon-Charter Oak neighborhood. It is on the south side of Charter Oak Avenue, just east its junction with Main Street and west of Charter Oak Park. The synagogue was designed by Keller and built in 1875-76 for a Jewish congregation established in 1843.
A year later, the doors opened for the Koeppel Community Sports Center. Up to that time, Trinity's ice hockey teams had to use other local rinks and had most recently been hosted at the Oxford Rink in West Hartford. Initially, the venue had seating for 1,200 with an additional 300 bleacher seats available. [4]
