Bambalapitiya is a southern coastal neighbourhood of Colombo, Sri Lanka. [2]The area also known as Colombo 4, spans about 1.5 km 2 (370 acres) along Galle Road. The western boundary of the suburb is the Indian Ocean and it is bordered to the east by Havelock Town, the north by Kollupitiya, and to the south by Wellawatte.
The Bambalapitiya Grama Niladhari Division has a Buddhist plurality (32.5%), a significant Muslim population (30.2%) and a significant Hindu population (20.2%) . In comparison, the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat (which contains the Bambalapitiya Grama Niladhari Division) has a Buddhist plurality (47.9%), a significant Hindu population (22.5%) and a significant Muslim population (17.4%) [2
From there you can cross the rail-tracks, past the three-legged dog and Golden Mile restaurant, and you're on the beach. Among the things that are sold there are swimsuits, inflatable balls, sour mango, and manioca chips. The strip also boasts high-end restaurants like Lavinia Breeze, Long Feng, Steamboat, Belize, etc.
The town is located on the Horana - Anguruwatota - Aluthgama Road (B157), near its junction with the Nagoda - Kalawellawa - Ballapitiya Road (B304), with public transport links to Kalutara, Horana, Matugama and Kandy.
