William Kent (c. 1685 – 12 April 1748) was an English architect, landscape architect, painter and furniture designer of the early 18th century.He began his career as a painter, and became Principal Painter in Ordinary or court painter, but his real talent was for design in various media.

However, Kent shone with his skill to play the piano and his high reading ability. In 1940, Kent was drafted into the US Navy and served at the Naval Station at Great Lakes as a storekeeper.
William Kentridge (born 28 April 1955) is a South African artist best known for his prints, drawings, and animated films, especially noted for a sequence of hand-drawn animated films he produced during the 1990s. The latter are constructed by filming a drawing, making erasures and changes, and filming it again.
