hd log splitter I've done up to 24 " red and white oak.Log usually splits before it's anywhere near full extention. For my self I can't see the need for a larger engine or splitter.Yes if I was doing it professionally for sale, but for 15 to twenty cords a year, it's great for me.I use 103 octane and get a much longer run time per tank of gas.Justifies the additional expense.

Kansas. Mar 22, 2015. #3. I hear ya, but then I'd have to lift those heavy rounds that much higher. My first splitter was a wedge and sledge hammer. My second was a little dude from Lowes that was about a foot off the ground. I could roll the big ones on it, but then it couldn't split them.
Dec 31, 2019. #2. Tonnage is really not the best way to evaluate log splitters. Cycle time and tonnage is. Cycle time is critical. Vacuum cleaners have an efficiency number on them. It's a number that basicly says how much suction per kilowatt you are getting. It's about as useful as mpg on a bulldozer. Or, "20" bar".
