The Ultimate Warrior gained the early advantage in his steel cage match with Rick Rude. After the Warrior missed a splash attempt, Rude attempted to win the match by escaping the cage. The Warrior stopped him, and both wrestlers unsuccessfully attempted to perform their finishing moves.
The main singles match on the card was between Ravishing Rick Rude versus The Ultimate Warrior for the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship. They had a "Super Posedown" at the Royal Rumble in January 1989 which was won by Warrior, prompting Rude to angrily attack him with a steel workout bar. [11]
Rick Rude defended his Intercontinental Championship primarily against The Ultimate Warrior, but also against other faces such as Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Jimmy Snuka. Later in the summer of 1989, Rude began badmouthing Roddy Piper, and Piper would play a key role in Rude's ultimate title loss back to The Ultimate Warrior.
The fourteenth bout was a singles match pitting Jimmy Snuka against "Ravishing" Rick Rude. Rude won the bout by pinfall following a Rude Awakening. The main event bout was a Winner Takes All match between WWF Champion Hulk Hogan and WWF Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior.

The Ultimate Warrior won the match in just 31 seconds to end Honky Tonk's 14-month title reign, at the time, the longest Intercontinental Championship reign in history. The main event was a match pitting The Mega Powers ( Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage ), against their long-time rivals, The Mega Bucks ( Ted DiBiase and André the Giant ).
