Posted on Mar 2, 2022 2:06 PM. If what you're looking for is a straight, bare bones, plain text editor, then TextEdit can already do that. The default is Rich text format, but you can easily change it. Open TextEdit and then its preferences. Change the New Document radio button to Plain text.
Yes. TextEdit is the best and comes bundled with OSX. If you want to make it without any text formatting, go to menu “Format > Make Plain Text” (or shortcut ‘Command+Shift+T”. You can also set this non-formatting as default everytime you launch this app. Go to “Preferences” > under ‘Format’ > choose “Plain Text”.
