The Gold Star family is one that has experienced a loss of a loved one–an immediate family member – who died as the result of active-duty military service. Those who die in service to their country leave behind parents, siblings, spouses, children and extended families.

In 2013, their middle son, Army Sgt. Anthony R. Maddox was killed while serving in Afghanistan. She is personally committed to keeping his name alive along with other fallen military heroes, while also providing hope and healing for families of the fallen.
The Trees of Honor are on display in three public venues in Central Illinois from November through January to make sure the families of our Fallen Heroes know their heroes will never be forgotten. We have more than 400 ornaments on each tree representing the fallen from over 40 states and conflicts dating back to the Civil War.
