Cleethorpes (/ ˈ k l iː θ ɔːr p s /) is a seaside town on the estuary of the Humber in North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, England [2] with a population of 29,678 in 2021. [3] It has been permanently occupied since the 6th century, with fishing as its original industry, then developing into a resort in the 19th century.
Plans for the pier first appeared in late 1866 in The London Gazette and construction was ordered in 1867. Pleasure Island Family Theme Park stood on the site of the former Cleethorpes Marineland and Zoo. Owned and operated as a satellite zoo of Flamingo Park, and later by Scotia Leisure, the zoo had such attractions as dolphins, sea lions and pelicans. The zoo closed in 1977.

Cleethorpes Lifeboat Station is located on the Central Promenade, in the seaside town of Cleethorpes, which sits on the south bank of the River Humber estuary, in north east Lincolnshire. An Inshore lifeboat was first stationed at Cleethorpes by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 1868.
