The school offices at 14 Moore Street Memorial Hall (now Bierenbaum Fisher Hall) at Rider University, where the school's classes are held. The Princeton Community Japanese Language School (PCJLS; プリンストン日本語学校 Purinsuton Nihongo Gakkō) is a Japanese weekend school in the Princeton, New Jersey area.
In 1962 several Japanese businesspersons established the weekend school with five teachers, [2] and initially there were 36 students. Originally it only admitted children of members of the Nippon Club; enrollment increased dramatically once the school began admitting children of non-members.
The Japanese School of New York established a branch campus in New Jersey on April 1, 1992, with grades one through four. [5]Its original enrollment was 13, but by May 1993 it had 60 students.

On April 1, 1992, the school opened a branch campus in New Jersey with grades 1 through to 4. On April 1, 1999, the New Jersey campus became its own institution, the New Jersey Japanese School. [9] By 2002, due to a decrease of Japanese families in Westchester County, the school's population decreased.
