An older female squirrel who travels with her otter friend Bragoon. Scaredy Squirrel: Mélanie Watt: Scaredy Squirrel: Scaredy is inevitably faced with the fears he tries so hard to avoid, eventually learning that it is not as bad as he initially imagined. However, he only slightly alters his strict daily routines after these experiences.
The stories are told using large pictures with basic descriptive text. The books follow the same format: the titular protagonist Scaredy Squirrel identifies his fears, shows how he avoids them at all costs, and develops contingency plans, which typically involve an emergency kit and playing dead until the threat has passed.
Scaredy Orville Squirrel (voiced by Terry McGurrin) is a smart, germophobic, and occasionally shy orange squirrel who works as a stacker at a grocery store called Stash "N" Hoard and is fond of cleaning. Unlike the books where he's a flying squirrel, this version of Scaredy resembles an American red squirrel.

Scaredy Squirrel is a Canadian animated comedy television series based very loosely on the book series of the same name by Mélanie Watt for YTV and Cartoon Network. The series follows the wisecracking adventures of Scaredy, an American red squirrel and his best friend Dave, a blue striped skunk.
The Scaredy Squirrel series is influenced by Watt's childhood experiences, [7] including her childhood fear of sharks. [6] She received a BA in graphic design from the Université du Québec à Montréal. [8] In 1999, while enrolled in an illustration class taught by Michele Lemieux, Watt wrote her first story, Leon the Chameleon. [8]
