The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) is an examination board in the Caribbean. [1] [2] It was established in 1972 [3] under agreement by the participating governments in the Caribbean Community to conduct such examinations as it may think appropriate and award certificates and diplomas on the results of any such examinations so conducted.
The first intake was 105 students and they were placed in 3 forms- 1A, 1B and 1C according to the results. 35 students were placed in each class. The exam written to gain entry was called 'THE COMMON ENTRANCE EXAMINATION, 1961, FOR MODERN SECONDARY SECTION OF COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL, SANGRE GRANDE.' The 105 students wrote the same exam to enter NEC.
