On 26 August 1999, the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, announced that ITM had been upgraded to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and the new status transformed UiTM Library from a traditional library into a hybrid library in line with the development of current technology.
UiTM Faculty of Civil Engineering is one of the professional graduate faculty of UiTM located in Shah Alam, Malaysia. The Dean in office is Professor Dr. Azmi Ibrahim, who assumed the role in 2010. Currently, the faculty consists of 89 academic staff, 24 admin and 40 technical staff. It has about 501 postgraduate students and 1190 undergraduate.

UiTM Faculty of Law is one of the professional graduate faculties of UiTM and is located in Shah Alam, Malaysia. It is among the notable public premier law school in Malaysia. The current Dean of the faculty is Dr. Hartini Saripan, who assumed the role in 2018. The faculty currently consists of some 100 academic staff.
On 19 October 1983, the Cabinet gave its approval for this project in Kedah. At that time, the project was called "The Sixth University Project". Several months later, the temporary office of the Sixth University, officially named Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), was officially opened on 15 February 1984 in Jitra. [7]
