The City of Coffs Harbour (also known as the Coffs Harbour City Council) is a local government area in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia.The area under administration is 1,175 square kilometres (454 sq mi), expanded in 2004 to take in parts of the former Pristine Waters local government area.
It owns 14 villages across Britain with 1,609 residents. Eight contain on-site care homes with a total of about 300 residents. In 2014/5 the firm had sales of £35 million and paid its six directors a total of £498,000. In November 2016 it announced its intention to open seven more villages with a gross value of £200 million by 2021.
A suburb of the City of Coffs Harbour, Sawtell is located on the north-eastern coast of New South Wales, adjacent to Toormina and Boambee, and 10 km south of Coffs Harbour. It is served by the North Coast railway line with six New South Wales XPT services daily, three heading north and three south.
In the late 1940s and early 1950s it was wanted for Coffs Harbour and surrounds to become a municipality or shire. This is referring to the town of Sawtell which was thought could be beneficial if Coffs Harbour Shire was created. [7]
