Damon Anthony Dash (born May 3, 1971) is an American entrepreneur and record executive. [4] He co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z and Kareem Burke in 1994, [ 5 ] and co-founded the fashion retailer Rocawear with the former in 1999.
As Dash and Burke set up their own fledgling record label, originally called Roc4life and later rechristened to Dame Dash Music Group, each artist was offered their choice of labels. Memphis Bleek and Kanye West remained on Roc-A-Fella. Jimmy Jones and The Diplomats opted to leave Roc-A-Fella in 2004.
In 1995, Burke co-founded the record label Roc-A-Fella Records with Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Damon "Dame" Dash. In 2004, Roc-A-Fella Records was purchased by Def Jam Recordings (which had previously only owned half of the company). [5] In 2017, Burke hired Julia Lang to work as his image consultant for two years. [6]
