¡Ay, Jalisco, no te rajes! (English: "Jalisco, don't back down") is a 1941 Mexican film directed by Joselito Rodríguez, starring Jorge Negrete, [1] Gloria Marín and Carlos López. It is the prequel [2] to El Ametralladora, starring Pedro Infante in the role as Salvador Pérez Gómez 'El Ametralladora'.
After playing the character Chachita in her second movie, ¡Ay, Jalisco, no te rajes! (1941), she received the nickname "Chachita". [citation needed] Around 1944, her popularity in starring in her movies led to her starting a radio career in the radio show La legión de madrugadores on the XEQ radio station.
"¡Ay, Jalisco, no te rajes!" or in English Jalisco, don't back down is a Mexican ranchera song composed by Manuel Esperón with lyrics by Ernesto Cortázar Sr. It was written in 1941 [ 1 ] and featured in the 1941 Mexican film ¡Ay Jalisco, no te rajes! , after which it became an enormous hit in Mexico. ¡Ay Jalisco, no te rajes! (1941) directed by Joselito Rodríguez, stars Jorge Negrete and Gloria Marín. The film showcases Negrete's powerful singing voice and became one of the defining films of his career. A Toda Máquina (1951) directed by Ismael Rodríguez, a comedy musical stars Pedro Infante and features lively musical numbers.
In 1938 he starred in La Valentina with Elisa Christy and then in Juntos Pero No Revueltos. After working in Havana and Hollywood, Negrete was called to act in ¡Ay, Jalisco, no te rajes! ("Hey Jalisco, Don't Back Down!") which made him an international Latin star and helped formulate the charro film genre.
