Englewood is a neighborhood and community area located on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States.It is also the 68th of the 77 community areas in the city.At its peak population in 1960, over 97,000 people lived in its approximately 3 square miles (7.8 km 2), [2] but the neighborhood's population has since dropped dramatically.
63rd is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system, serving the Red Line. The station is located in the median of the Dan Ryan Expressway and serves the Englewood neighborhood. It is near the former site of the Englewood Union Station , which served the Pennsylvania Railroad , New York Central , and Rock Island Lines .

The 39th Street terminal featured small service facilities, but it did not have sufficient space to store the entire fleet. The line was extended to Jackson Park in 1893 to serve the World's Columbian Exposition, and a yard was built along the main line, bounded by South Calumet Avenue, 61st, and 63rd Streets. West Englewood, one of the 77 community areas, is on the southwest side of Chicago, Illinois.At one time it was known as South Lynne. [2] The boundaries of West Englewood are Garfield Blvd to the north, Racine Ave to the east, the CSX and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks to the west, and the Belt Railway of Chicago to the south. Chicago and Western Indiana commuter service lasted until 1963. [5] [6] The tracks are in use by Metra's SouthWest Service, but trains do not stop here. Ashland/63rd is an 'L' station and the terminal of the CTA Green Line's Ashland branch, located in the West Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Situating at 6315 S. Ashland Avenue, the station contains a Park 'n' ride lot with 235 spaces as well as a Kiss 'n' Ride lane. This is one of two stations on the Green Line to be named Ashland.
