Wayne County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.The county's population was 51,155 at the 2020 census. [1] The county seat is the Borough of Honesdale. [2] The county was formed from part of Northampton County on March 21, 1798, [3] and was named for the Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne. [2]
It was a major component of a large, planned, railroad commuter suburb called "the Wayne Estates," complementing the northern half of the residential area that is now included in the North Wayne Historic District, and the downtown area of Wayne, which sits between the two residential districts, now the Downtown Wayne Historic District.
