  2. Prvi Partizan 357 - Ruger Forum

    www.rugerforum.net/threads/prvi-partizan-357.120009

I just bought a 1973 Security Six 6" in good shape, and need to buy some ammo for playing around. I see Prvi Partizan 158 ammo online for a very reasonable price. Is this decent ammo? I've read mainly positive reviews. The 1600fps velocity is pretty high considering it's cheap, and 158g bullets.

    www.rugerforum.net/threads/38-p-in-357-magnum.391857

.357 magnum is the high end of .38 Special ammo pressure wise. It progresses in this fashion...38 Spcl, .38 Spcl +P, .38 Spcl +P+, .357 Magnum. In other words...your .357 is designed to shoot higher pressure loads.

    www.rugerforum.net/threads/the-most-likely-357-magnum...

That having been said, a .357 magnum should be more than adequate to protect you from a black bear. Most articles written on this subject seem to suggest using heavy 180 grain hunting ammo, either lead flat point, semi-jacketed soft-points, or even 165 grain Core-lokts.

  5. What's the hottest .357 Magnum ammo you have seen...

double tapp ammo is always fine on the 10mm, true to box specs for me. but swamp fox is as hot as you can safely get. he has a 800 ft pound ME load for the 10mm, listed in the "supported chamber only" catagory of nosler 10mm 135 grain. korth revolver or coonan auto, coupled with swamp fox .357 ammo is the match made in heaven

  6. What ammo do you use in your 357 Magnum? - Ruger Forum

Well that depends, In the wifes "J" frame we generally stick to a +P 158 LSWCHP, in my 3" I use the same load, In a 4 or 6 inch "L" or "N" frame or GP100 I tend to go with a 158 SJSWCHP full .357, or a 135 JHP, whichever the gun prefers, unless I am "In the Bush" in which case I like the Remington 158gn JSP load, Now in my 4' "K Frames" I tend to go with a 145-158 gn bullet in a magnum loading ...

  7. 357 Magnum for target practice? - Ruger Forum

    www.rugerforum.net/threads/357-magnum-for-target-practice...

In that sense, yes, target ammo refers to "not hollow point". Now, if you can buy hollow point for the same price as FMJ, it than becomes "target ammo". With a .357, you have an even better option, which is to practice with .38 special. Assuming you are using a revolver, you can fire 38 special in a .357 magnum revolver.

  8. .357 mag 158 gr. vs 125 gr. - Ruger Forum

    www.rugerforum.net/threads/357-mag-158-gr-vs-125-gr.17357

I shoot the .357 Magnums at a distance of 60ft./20yrds. to target, and my reloads are full magnum with a CCI Magnum primer. They do massive damage to the target they hit. (water jugs, 2x4's etc Recoil is nowhere like the older factory I used to buy. (Federal 125gr. Magnums) Somehow, I feel cheated by that.

  9. 38 super auto in a 357 magnum? - Ruger Forum

  10. Best 357 magnum defensive ammo - Ruger Forum

    www.rugerforum.net/threads/best-357-magnum-defensive-ammo...

I suspect that Remington's mild 125 grain .357 is a good load for K-frame S&W's, but I don't fire enough .357's in my M-66-3 to make me worry. My GP-100 is beefier, but I still don't routinely practice with a lot of Magnum ammo. The .357 is for KILLING, not for routine paper punching or can rolling.
