There are two ways to win: finish 16 laps (4 km) before the other team does or catch the other team. The time for each team is determined by the third cyclist to cross the finish line; the fourth cyclist does not need to finish.

The UCI Track Cycling World Cup – Women's team pursuit are the World Cup team pursuit for women races held at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup. The first competition of this event for women was at the 2007–2008 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics. The distance raced is 3 kilometres, or twelve laps on a typical indoor velodrome track.
The men's team pursuit at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was part of the cycling programme, which took place on 5 April 2018. The New Zealand team originally had the third fastest time in the qualifying round, but were disqualified after one of their bikes failed a technical inspection. [1] [2]
