Our engineers are aware of an issue effecting BaseCamp recognizing Outdoor wearable watches, including Epix gen 2, Fenix 7, Marq 2 etc. They are working toward a software solution… Dr Phil 7 months ago in reply to John +1
I am considering upgrading my navigation unit to Garmin XT2 (currently using BMW Motorrad Navigator VI). I have been using Basecamp for 10 years to track and manage my rides, and I have a large collection of trips organized into a folder structure based on year, with subfolders for each month and then trips within that month.
...Garmin decided several months ago to discontinue any updates to Basecamp and to let it die. Some of us "old timers" remember the MapSource to BaseCamp transition. In Jan 2009 Garmin announced BaseCamp.
If you have a subscription to Garmin Birdseye, you can download aerial imagery and view it in Basecamp. The roads on whatever map you select can be superimposed on the imagery. This is only supported on the newer handheld devices, and you have to connect yours to the computer before downloading.
I've just created that route without issue in BaseCamp . Note Homeport is aimed at devices used on water and that BaseCamp replaced MapSource over 10 years ago, although you can still download it from Garmin and it works with many older devices, and even very modern ones if they work in mass storage mode.
Dear All. Happy New Year (with some minor issues :-)) I Plan a route on Basecamp, putting 5 waypoint and transfer it to my Foretrex 601 & Fenix 3.
Or maybe I'm attacking it the wrong way. Yes, I have a Garmin, and a large SD card. I'm trying to find a source for routable OSM maps of the entire continental USA that will install into Garmin's Basecamp or Mapsource software (and then ultimately onto the Garmin device). I do know about the URLs below, but each has its issues.
Can I use BaseCamp with my legacy Garmin device? To my knowledge it does not work with Aviation or (dedicated) Marine models. This is correct to an extent. Most Garmin devices, with the specific exclusions listed above, will work with BaseCamp on some level, however they must be USB. Serial devices don't work.
I've used BaseCamp for over 12 years, creating routes both on and off road for my driving and hiking routes. Couldn't do the hiking routes on Google maps and I find it far easier to plan driving routes in BaseCamp and send them to my Garmin.
Now we can finally connect our EE2 to BaseCamp after almost 6 months (if I'm right, the last version with BaseCamp compatibility is 19.21). Tested, we can now add/remove waypoints, tracks, routes directly on BaseCamp!
