The Hangover is a 2009 American comedy film directed by Todd Phillips, and written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. It is the first installment in The Hangover trilogy . The film stars Bradley Cooper , Ed Helms , Zach Galifianakis , Heather Graham , Justin Bartha , and Jeffrey Tambor .
Each film in the series focuses on how the friends deal with the aftermath of their antics, while they are being humiliated and occasionally physically beaten up at every turn. [1] All three films were released from 2009 to 2013, and have grossed a collective total of $1.4 billion in the United States and worldwide.
His breakthrough came with the role of a reckless teacher in Todd Phillips' comedy The Hangover (2009), [6] which became one of the highest grossing R-rated films of all time. [7] Cooper continued to take on parts in several box office hits, including The A-Team (2010), Limitless, and The Hangover Part II (both in 2011). [8]

Moore is one of the writers of The Hangover, one of the highest grossing R-rated comedies of all-time. [2] He works with longtime writing partner Jon Lucas. [3] They were nominated for Best Original Screenplay in 2009 by both the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) [4] and the Writers Guild of America (WGA).
The film is structured cleverly, beginning with Bea unconscious in a hospital, narrating her story in voiceover as the various members of her family talk to a social worker.
The movie spawned two sequels but did not include involvement by Lucas and Moore. Due to the success of The Hangover, the duo penned another R-rated comedy: the 2011 film, The Change-Up. In 2013, Lucas and Moore made their co-directorial debuts with the comedy film, 21 & Over. [1]
