The Night Shift was renewed for a 14-episode second season on July 1, 2014. [1] On May 8, 2015, it was renewed for a third season, which is expected to air as a midseason replacement in the 2015-16 Television season. [2] The first episode of the season premiered to 5.52 million viewers, and a 1.5/4 adults 18-49 rating.
On October 8, 2012, NBC placed a pilot order, under the name After Hours, and ordered four additional scripts on April 18, 2013 under the final name The Night Shift. [1] [2] It was renewed for a second season on July 1, 2014, after airing only 5 episodes. [3] The first episode premiered to 7.67 million viewers, winning its timeslot.
