The region also encompasses electoral areas A (east of Fruitvale extending just past Champion Lakes and south to Waneta and the Pend d'Oreille River), B/Lower Columbia-Old Glory, C/Christina Lake, D/Rural Grand Forks and E/West Boundary including Rock Creek, Bridesville, Beaverdell and Big White Ski Resort.
Over time, Grand Forks has gradually expanded in population and now has 4,049 residents within its city limits. In 1909, the Doukhobor Christian Community of Universal Brotherhood (CCUB) purchased 1,600 hectares (4,000 acres) in the Grand Forks area. [8] On Reservoir Rd, about 2.9 kilometres (1.8 mi) south of the former village, is the Fructova Heritage Site. The property includes the former Doukhobor school, which was open 1929–1949.
