  2. Is "Crossover" Worth It? - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/is-crossover-worth-it.2411756

Crossover uses the most recent Wine version while Whisky is behind by couple versions but it is free, honestly half of my apps and games ran much more perfectly fine on whisky versus crossover lol. In theory, using crossover for wide range of applications support is ideal but Whisky seem to be doing much better in gaming side of things ...

  3. Doom 2016 ( or Doom Eternal) on M1 Macs via crossover?

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/doom-2016-or-doom-eternal-on-m1-macs-via...

I don't know about Doom 2016 or Doom Eternal, but Doom (all the older versions) work fine running on a Mac with the "GZDoom" engine. GZDoom is 64 bit and runs at normal speeds in Big Sur. Which means that it will also run on a M1 via Rosetta 2. You don't need CrossOver.

  4. Crossover and .Iso Files?? - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/crossover-and-iso-files.882927

What you have to do, BEFORE trying to run the installer, is go into Manage Bottles in CrossOver then open up Wine Configuration in the Control Panel tab. Once that opens, click the Drives tab, and add a drive, making sure to fill in the path - it'll be of the form /Volumes/[image name when mounted] - where the stuff in []s needs to be replaced ...

The AS Chips have so much potential. The games that do run mostly run well. I also got Kingdom Hearts 3 to run in Parallels, have not yet tried it in Crossover. KH 1.5 + 2.5 crashes every time with CXPatcher and Crossover, and Parallels. I can't launch NBA 2k24 with Crossover nor Parallels.

  6. Borderlands 3 on M1 MBP via CrossOver - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/borderlands-3-on-m1-mbp-via-crossover.2424088

According to Crossover's compatibility database BL3 have some problems in the latest version 24 but works well in 23.7.1. If you buy Crossover you can download older versions and even have different versions on your drive. Crossover also uses Apple Game Porting Toolkit which makes many more games compatible.

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/age-of-empires-4-on-macbook-pro-2021-m1-pro.2319283

Unfortunately the answer is no for Age of Empires 4 and playing through Parallels or Crossover. The reason being is Age 4 is a Directx 12 game which isn’t supported yet on Parallels or Crossover. The only way to currently play Age 4 on an M1 Mac is streaming it through Microsoft Game Pass via Safari.

  8. Mac Gaming to Gain DirectX 12 Support via CrossOver 23

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/mac-gaming-to-gain-directx-12-support-via...

CrossOver will gain support for DirectX 12 starting this year to enhance the experience of playing Windows games on macOS, CodeWeavers this week announced. CrossOver allows macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS users to run Windows apps as if they were native by translating Windows APIs into their Mac...

  9. Gaming performance and issues in macOS 14 Sonoma

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/gaming-performance-and-issues-in-macos-14-sonoma...

It turns out that I actually will need to play some games in Crossover despite having the Mac port so part of the problem is solved. Old OpenGL games seem to have much better performance in Crossover than when playing the Mac port. I tested Sleeping Dogs and depending on the settings the frame rate can be more than 2x higher in Crossover.

  10. GTA IV on Crossover - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/gta-iv-on-crossover.744093

I'm not sure if it will work under CrossOver. But just for the record GTA IV is an extreme resource hog. My PC with 2.66 C2D/5GB DDR2/9800 GTX had trouble running it.

  11. CrossOver Mac Beta Released! - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/crossover-mac-beta-released.229465

Crossover (which is based on Wine) has been around on Linux for a while now. Crossover does a pretty good job at "emaulating" Windows** so that many Windows apps run.... however some (esp. those from Microsoft) have a number of funny quirks.... I'd say it's OK for messing around with and having some fun, but not really suitable for serious work.
