The name changed to Klim in 1999 as the company relocated to Idaho. Starting in 2005, the company began developing off-road motorcycle gear for the snowmobile off-season. Further, in 2009, the adventure motorcycling community was exploding; as such, the company used their knowledge of winter and off-road motorsports to develop rugged riding gear.

MX racing bikes have often been used as platforms for building enduro bikes. [1] This was partially driven by the conversion of MX from 2-stroke to 4-stroke engine designs to comply with regulatory trends, as well as the development of hybrid competition races such as Enduro-X. [1] Compared to MX bikes, enduro and dual-sport bikes traditionally had a much higher proportion of 4-stroke motors.
It arose from everyday mountain bike riding, which originally entailed riding to the top of the mountain and then racing to the bottom. The first reported enduro race, using the modern format, was held in August 2003 in Val d'Allos. Earlier enduro-style local races were run in Italy, New Zealand, and the UK during the 1980s and 1990s.
A 34mm carburetor was used along with a reed intake valve. The bike was given a six-speed gearbox with a very low ratio first gear to help in tackling technical trial sections. The frame was based on that of the YZ but the steering rake was increased to lengthen the bike and improve high speed stability, facilitated by a high sixth gear.
Enduro is a form of motorcycle sport run on extended cross-country, off-road courses. [1] Enduro consists of many different obstacles and challenges. The main type of enduro event, and the format to which the World Enduro Championship is run, is a time-card enduro, whereby a number of stages are raced in a time trial against the clock.
