Barbara T. Christian (December 12, 1943 – June 25, 2000) was an American author and professor of African-American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.Among several books, and more than 100 published articles, Christian was best known for the 1980 study Black Women Novelists: The Development of a Tradition.
Shahrazad Ali (born April 27, 1954) is an American author of several books, including a paperback called The Blackman's Guide to Understanding the Blackwoman. The library was founded by Ola Ronke Akinmowo in 2015. Initially, Akinmowo used social media to ask people to send her any books written by Black women. [1] After some weeks, Akinmowo received about 100 books for her project. The library's holdings grew to about 450 books in 2016, [2] and to about 1000 books in 2018. [3]
