The Germantown Municipal School District (GMSD) is a municipal school district serving Germantown, Tennessee, United States.The school district was formed in 2013. The schools included in the district are Dogwood Elementary School, Forest Hill Elementary School, Farmington Elementary School, Houston Middle School, Riverdale K–8, and Houston High School.
The Germantown campus is the original campus. In 1959 St. George's Episcopal Church started a day school with 19 students and two teachers in its rectory. [2] In 1979, the parish, including the school, moved to new facilities along Poplar Avenue.
Germantown is a city in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 41,333 at the 2020 census. [5] It was given a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence in 2019. [6] Germantown is a suburb of Memphis, bordering it to the east-southeast. Germantown was founded in 1841 by mostly German emigrants.

In 1996, the school moved to a larger campus in South Germantown, Tennessee, in the quarters of the old Germantown Baptist Church. In 2006, the school moved to Cordova, Tennessee, across the street from the Bellevue Baptist Church into a new $28 million facility located on 51 acres (35 donated by Bellevue and 16 purchased by the Seminary). The school was founded as a segregation academy during the racial integration of public schools in Memphis, Tennessee. Today, it serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
